Do you have the music in you? You better, because the 60th Grammy Awards are this weekend! After spending the last 15 years in Los Angeles, the annual awards show is heading back to New York. This year’s show has been making headlines because some of music’s biggest stars like Ed Sheeran, Drake, Taylor Swift, Lorde, and Justin Bieber will be reportedly skipping the event, as they don’t feel like the awards properly showcase the best of the music industry.
Don’t worry though, the Grammys are still packing plenty of star power. The opening alone is rumored to feature Kendrick Lamar, U2, and Dave Chappelle. Rihanna, Sam Smith, and Pink will also be taking the stage at some point in the evening, and Elton John and Miley Cyrus will be teaming up for a duet during the presentation of the former’s President’s Merit Award. Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee will be performing their international hit “Despacito,” which is also favored to take home the award for Record of the Year, beating Kendrick Lamar’s "Humble" in the process. Luckily, Kendrick is expected to win Album of the Year for Damn.
If you’re in NYC and looking to celebrate music’s biggest weekend, the Mastercard House in the Meatpacking District is hosting free concerts (featuring Portugal. The Man, Francis and the Lights, and Dua Lipa) for cardholders on Friday and Saturday nights. And if these artists don’t really fit your personal vibe, it’s Grammy Weekend in New York City, good music won’t be hard to find!
