May the Force be With You

Today's the day that Star Wars fans around the world have been waiting for!  One of the most anticipated films of the year, The Last Jedi, has finally been released.  Allow us to catch you up on the Star Wars universe before you check out this latest installment.

When we left off, Finn (John Boyega) suffered a grave injury while fighting, and Poe (Oscar Isaac) was found to be alive and well after surviving violent crash.  Han Solo (Harrison Ford) met his demise (in front of his bestie, Chewbacca) at the hands of his and General (formerly Princess) Leia's son, Kylo Ren (Adam Driver).  However, the film ends on a hopeful note, as Leia sends Rey (Daisy Ridley) to her brother, Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill), to train as a Jedi.  Here's what we're expecting from The Last Jedi:  Kylo Ren is back and badder than ever.  Unlike The Force Awakens, Luke should be seeing lots of screen time, as he'll be spending a good chunk of the movie training Rey and hopefully rejoining the Resistance.  Finn will be on the mend and back in action, although the trailer shows him surrounded by a concerning amount of stormtroopers, and Poe will no doubt be apart of some exciting action scenes as he pilots his T-70 X-wing fighter.

This film also marks the last movie of Carrie Fisher, a.k.a. Princess Leia.  After her untimely death nearly a year ago, filmmakers decided to dedicate The Last Jedi to the legendary star.  Fisher's last performance as Leia certainly left an impression among her peers and movie critics, as it's been called "the best tribute possible" and the movie scored a 93% on Rotten Tomatoes.  However, the latest Star Wars film hardly needed the positive reviews in order to strike box office gold this weekend.  As we mentioned, it's potentially the most anticipated movie of the year!

One last question...light side or dark side?
